What you can do in here

The directory

2,298 businesses, 466 cities, 50 states.

Every listing checked against public sources. On 153 of them we name the owner and link where it was read — 94 to publications that named them, 59 to the business's own account of itself, and the page says which — the only national list of Black-owned business that shows its working rather than asking you to take its word.

2,710 businesses have been listed here. 412 were taken back off — one in seven, most of them imports that turned out never to have been real businesses at all. Which ones, when, and why is a page of its own, because a directory that only shows you what it kept is asking you to take its word after all.
