National Minority Supplier Development CouncilNMSDCMBE certification. This is the paperwork that puts a business on the supplier lists of large corporations, which is how many companies get their first contract of real size.Minority Business Development AgencyMBDAThe federal agency for minority-owned business. It funds Business Centers around the country that will sit with you on contracts, capital and growth at no charge.1969U.S. Black Chambers, Inc.USBCThe national body for Black chambers of commerce. It runs ByBlack, the certification that tells a corporate buyer a business is Black-owned — the same directories this one was checked against.2009Operation HOPEFinancial coaching and small-business support, delivered free through offices inside banks and community sites. Its stated aim is credit, capital and a business plan for people the system skips.1992National Bankers AssociationThe trade association for minority depository institutions — the Black-owned banks and credit unions. Useful when you want to know which lender is actually in your community.
